Middle school students conducting science research on the web.

Year 7 and 8 science students need to develop critical selection skills when investigating science applications and knowledge from the web.

In many cases students went directly to youtube to see a demonstation but with time, direction and experience the students have become more selective in deciding on sites that have authentic backgrounds.   

For students, being the first to discover a website is no longer the challenge, now students are widening their searches to find various applications and alternative 'bone fide' sites.

The skill based loosely on Gwen Garwith's inquiry processes, need to be reinforced in other curriculum areas and the links between curricular needs to be acknowledged.
