Student Technicians

One of the key drivers behind the Manaiakalani 1:1 ethos is using an Open Source environment where students are able to administer their own device.

Each school selected student volunteers to be trained as netbook technicians and these students are first point of contact when their peers have technical issues.

As part of the training process the student technicians imaged all the netbooks for their school.  We found that it took 5 repetitions of imaging netbooks before they felt completely confident and then after that they were imaging 3,4, 5 at a time.

This movie shows the imaging process at Tamaki College with a group of Year 10 students being trained by a group of Year 7's from a cluster primary school!
