Cluster Goal 2

Strong leadership of eLearning

Cluster Goal 3

Teachers and students use ICTs capably, creatively and considerately within authentic learning experiences resulting in higher levels of student

The context

Every Thursday between 3.15pm-3.45pm the ICT Team run short sharp workshops on a blog focus to help Teachers advance their skills.

The focus

To share ICT skills through practical workshops, to develop leaders and learning through ICT, that is relevant and easy to implement into the classroom programme.

The rationale

  • To empower Teachers to share their knowledge and skills with others.
  • To meet the needs and interest of our staff.
  • To continue to develop leadership skills in our staff.
  • To enhance Teacher confidence in ICT.

What did we do?

As an ICT Team, consisting of five staff member, we brainstormed a range of blog whiz bangs that others may find useful in their classroom.  After developing a roster we advertised the workshops on posters in the staff room and reminders in weekly housekeeping.  Teachers were invited to attend the ones that they saw as relevant to them.  Each Esnaps session was facilitated by a different member of the team.  At the end of the term we sent out a review asking staff if they valued the sessions and what they would see as useful for next term.

What happened?

Every session started with a demonstration of what the web2 tool was and how it can be used to enhance student learning.  From there Teachers were taken step by step through using the tool.  They then shared ways that they can use it in their programme. Teachers then went through the process themselves with each other.

At the end of the term we sent out the survey and we received positive feedback about the sessions.  We also took on board what the Staff said about what they would like to see next.  In term 2 we are running further sessions based on tools that can be used in student inquiry to promote integration.

What did we learn?

We are all able to lead workshops and feel confident to help other staff out.  There is so much out there that this gives us an opportunity to share. Esnaps provided a chance to celebrate our ICT journey.
