About me

I am a Science teacher at Amuri Area School. I teach conventional classes (face to face) however in the last 5 years I have been interested in the blended learning approach (online work + face to face). I teach a level 3 Chemistry class via video conference (distance learning) and have resources online through the educo website. I found this approach interesting and the students liked the fact that they can see the whole course and are able to keep up with the material outside of the classroom walls. I was part of the Blended Learning Project (BLP) in 2012, which is essentially a group of teachers from the Southland Central Divide (SCD) investigating the concept of online teaching and from here I developed a thirst for knowledge and began my postgraduate studies. The development of century 21st learning is what I am passionate about and what I would like to investigate, learn more and promote in my school. This year I have continued to pursue a formal qualification enrolling in another postgrad paper through the Canterbury University EDEM 628.

Kia ora Christian and welcome to the VLN.

I am part of the online team and we are here to support you and help you get the most out of the VLN community.

I see you have begun joining groups, maybe I could suggest some other groups to help you get the most out of the VLN.

You might like to join the "Getting started on the VLN" group, here you will find a wealth of tips to help you get the most out of the VLN.

If e learning is your passion, you might like to join this group too. /groups/profile/118255/enabling-elearning/

Each fortnight we put together the e-learning round-up on the blog, it is well worth skimming through to see the latest discussions and links, [/blog/group/118255/all].

Looking forward to working with you online.

    Ngā mihi nui, nā Catriona.
