About me

Life before St Peter’s saw me working in the desktop publishing area for some years before adult education became a major focus. At first I worked in computer companies’ training departments and later as a freelance computer tutor, working with people in their homes, in corporate situations and in the two years prior to St Peters, I sub-contracted as a computer trainer to the RNZAF in Whenuapai, .

Now I am at St Peter’s (for last 7 years……and counting!), my two focus areas are IT Support and also Professional Development.

I have a passion for computers and all things IT and nothing gives me more satisfaction than to sit with a staff member and have them work through a particular issue on their computer so that they are able to take full advantage of the technology in question. I believe that the most important thing I can do for the staff at SPC is to empower them to use technology to their advantage, from a professional looking PowerPoint presentation, to sending emails via our SMS, from ways to create tick box lists for a forthcoming trip to setting up a survey on Google docs and more. Every day brings new challenges, new opportunities and ways to allow people to help themselves in the common goal of the education of our students.

On a personal note – my husband and I have 3 young adult children – 2 big golden retrievers and a very old and grumpy cat. Life is busy and fun (mostly). I adore knitting which I never get a chance to do and am addicted to Skype – coming from Ireland it means I can see and hear my family on a regular basis – and even better, its free! I love fringe movies, great food and friends. I am the incumbent baker for the SPC staffroom as I am fundraising for my daughter who is about to run the NY marathon for charity. I have learnt which you probably won’t be surprised at, that anything made with chocolate is a number one seller!
