About me

Ngā Kupenga ā Kupe is the name of our new project supported by the Ministry focused on using cloud based teaching and learning to improve student outcomes for our tamariki Maori in Te Reo level 1 Kura throughout the nine of our project Kura in Te Tai Tokerau.

Collectively we decided that the ancestral links from the Tupuna ‘Kupe’ not only embraced all of the Kura involved, but that his “kupenga” or net symbolizes the collective intention to capture these kura which are used to sustain and nourish our cultural knowledge unique to each of our Kura in the north.

Though our Kura are geographically isolated the cloud based forum offers unlimited opportunities to share, showcase and celebrate the successes of each Kura.  Providing collegial support with moderation and use of online tools to grow capability and capacity in each of our Kura as a collective.  Also most importantly, inspire and motivate our tamariki.
