About me

I have been teaching since 2003. I finished my degree at Waikato university. I am currently teaching a year 5 and 6 class in an urban school in Hamilton. I am passionate about collaborative learning and discussions using any kind of resource that encourages thoughtful conversation and learning. I enjoy music and play guitar and I enjoy learning too. I am open and honest with those I work with and strongly believe that given opportunities students can enjoy success in some form.

I have two adult kids and a wonderful wife. The photo tells it all.

    Kia ora John,

Thank you for joining the iPad group on the VLN.

It's a pretty big group of teachers and people who know good stuff around excellent uses of iPads in classrooms to support children's learning.

Have a good look around the discussions and questions and if you can't find a answer or want to start a new discussion please leap and pose your question.

Kia ora John and welcome to the VLN.

I am part of the online team and we are here to support you and help you get the most out of the VLN community.

I see you've yet to join some groups, maybe I could suggest some groups to help you get the most out of the VLN.

You might like to join the "Getting started on the VLN" group, here you will find a wealth of tips (profile image/detail) to help you get the most out of the VLN.

If e-learning is your passion, you might like to join this group too. /groups/profile/118255/enabling-elearning/ There are several more e-learning sub-groups you might like to join too for on-going conversations.

Each fortnight we put together the e-learning round-up on the blog, it is well worth skimming through to see the latest discussions and links, /blog/group/118255/all.

Looking forward to working with you online.

    Ngā mihi nui, nā Tessa.
