About me

I am married and have two young daughters. I am a Deputy Principal at Hobsonville Point Secondary School.

In 2011-2012 I was the Director of e-learning at Epsom Girls Grammar School. I was also the facilitator of the ICTs in English community on English Online. In 2010 I (briefly) held the position of Auckland Secondary English Facilitator at Team Solutions at the University of Auckland. I have taught English for 13 years in a range of secondary schools, most recently holding the position of Head of English Faculty at Auckland Girl’s Grammar School. I also work at a national level in assessment and curriculum in English as a part of the writing team for the redevelopment of the NCEA standards and as a marker for NCEA external standards. In 2009 I was a Ministry of Education e-fellow for which she undertook a study of how ICTs can be used to support literacy in and beyond the English classroom.

    Hi Claire,
We have just completed WIFI throughout the school and this year gone fully BYOD, next year compulsory. Keen to share the digital citizenship resources you have made available online. Can you please add me...

Hey Claire - can you add to Gerard's thread on BYOD?: /mod/threaded_forums/topicposts.php?topic=309301&group_guid=118226. How have you done this at EGGS? Cheers, Karen

Hi there Claire, we have created some community badges (/pg/groupcms/view/231460/) that show recognition to those who have actively participated in the Enabling e-Learning community groups this year.

Please feel free to download the badges that best represent how you have engaged on the EE groups - for example, "I took the challenge" and "Member of the week". These can be uploaded to your profile page or any other online presence you have.

Again, thank you for your thoughtful contributions. Merry Christmas and see you online in 2012!

Hi Claire - you were posting early! Tell me please - do you allow your students who BYOD to log in to the server? We currently have individual logins which allow our students to see their own drives and a couple of shared drives. It means their internet access at school is filtered by Symantec. But we don't have BYOD yet - thinking about it.
