About me

E-Principal of FarNet in Tai Tokerau.  One of the founding members of the Virtual Learning Network Community Charitable Trust and is the Chairperson of the VLNC Council (2015 & 2016). Has been an educator for over 30 years, having spent 8 years as Deputy Principal of a Northland Secondary School before taking on the role of e-Principal.  Member and President of the Northland Secondary School Principal’s Association (NSSPA), a member of the PPTA ICT Advisory Group and on the N4L Advisory Group.

Has led the growth of FarNet from 9 schools in 2004 to its existing 25 schools in 2016, which now include area schools, co-ed schools, single sex schools, schools of special character, high schools, city schools, rural schools, wharekura and kura kaupapa. Carolyn was instrumental in establishing the HarbourNet Community of Schools, which is now a very successful and sustainable city cluster.

FarNet is well known as a successful online Community of Schools providing online learning opportunities through the use of video conferencing and other online tools as part of the Virtual Learning Network Community.  Demand for online learning has steadily increased from the original 80 students to existing 600 students from FarNet and nationally the numbers are well over 2000 amongst the 7 other online communities.
