About me
I am an educator of 20+ years with experience of leadership, sciences, literacy, numeracy, key competencies, adult learners, ELL, NCEA, refugee learners, disengaged learners, and learners who bring neurodiversity to my classroom. The strengths and diversity they bring to the classroom give us a place to co-create with them their learning goals. I joined the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert program in 2016 and was made a Microsoft Innovative Educator Fellow in 2019.
I currently work to support teacher learning and practice as a PLD facilitator and have the privilege to work with teachers across New Zealand, who contribute to the learning and growth of our students in years 0 to 13. I am passionate about educational equity and educational justice. UDL and e-learning tools are important to my practice as ways of capturing the imagination and enthusiasm of our students, giving them access to learning in ways they can use, and providing them with the many varieties of ways they can demonstrate what they can do with their learning. Each student has the right to learn in ways in which they can succeed and thrive. It is our job as educators to support them with that.
Hi Carmen. Welcome to the Digital Technologies group on VLN. Keen to have your ideas and thoughts added. Start discussions, ask to be added as a contributor to resources I have posted. Keep each other up to date with news that you hear about to do with this area. Let’s use our contacts to keep everyone up to speed with Digital Technologies as it develops in N.Z. Dive into discussion we would love to hear your thoughts.
