About me
I am a former English and Media Studies teacher. I now work for the University of Waikato as an advisor to secondary schools about the new New Zealand Curriculum and eLearning and I also am a National Facilitator for the ICT PD project.
My main interests are around making use of the mobile technologies our students already bring to school, to connect them to the wider community - both local and global. I spend a lot of time working with teachers to consider how students having "google in their pockets" impacts teaching and learning.
thinking about creating a resource that groups together interesting infographics and stats about the web and the way it is used... not sure about best way to do it... Group or Resource...
Hi Toni. I just posted a thread on the enabling Teaching space but it duplicated. I tried to delete one to no avail. Have left a msge with Karen and hope she can rectify the problem:)

Hey there Toni. I was in Nelson today and one of the members in the group expressed an interest in mobile technologies in the classroom. Suffice to say, I tossed your name on the table! (In a very pastoral and caring manner of course! :-) Cheers
Hi ya Toni - caught a glimpse of your discussion post...do you think it would be worthwhile / appropriate within this network to instead call 'friends' something else, maybe 'networkers' or 'online collaborators' or 'associates'...? I liked the essence of the thread you started :o) catch up soon, Dee
Thanks Toni. I think the VLN could be a useful sharing space. Nice to meet you in person the other day. :0)
Hey there Toni. I was in Gisborne yesterday and mentioned your name to the group of teachers I was with. One of the schools has a DP who is keen to know more about mobile technologies in the classroom. I suggested that this team make contact with you at some stage. Outside of that, hope alls well. Cheers :-)
Thanks Toni, I am visiting a school in Tauranga this Friday to view e-learing in action in a junior room, so will wait a while and then maybe organise a trip to see a few classrooms in Mamaku. I believe you are visiting our school soon, hopefully you will be around during morning tea or lunch time so I can say hello in person.
Hi there Toni- At least we will be able to meet now and find each other in a cafe! We need to skype to sort a date to visit schools. I did add your email address to my skype in hope as I didn't know your skpe name.
Hi Toni. Thanks for the comment on my class blog last term. We have just posted some work on how we are using solo taxonomy and thinking in our inquiry work. Its a work in progress so we will add more to it as the term progresses :) the link is http://room9-in-2011.blogspot.com/2011/05/against-all-odds_05.html
Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Toni, I am teaching Year 0 and I would be very interested in finding out more about NE's using iPads. Was the class in Hamilton?
Just watched the most wonderful new entrant class learning through iPads. Witnessing the level of engagement and independence of a young boy with special needs was truly amazing.
Sounds like a good idea. I come home on Monday. Can we wait for then? Too busy having a good time buying iPod Touches and drinking coffee.
Hi Toni. It looks like you are up and burning the midnight oil too:) Was great catching up with you last week.
