TV in the classroom - what size and type.

It's been very helpful seeing various VLN groups about TVs in the classroom. We are about to purchase television screens for our classrooms - what sizes have worked for the larger classrooms in modern learning environments? They will often be used for smaller groups but if you're looking at print or other detail would 60" be a starting width...
Next question: Apple TV or Smart TV? Are these the best options? Using Chromebooks as our main device for students - does that mean we need Smart TV? Is it an "either-or" situation? We definitely want to have full access to film etc via our class devices - chromebooks, ipads, smartphones - Do we even need Smart TV or Apple TVspecifically? or is a "generic" TV ok?
