This handbook was started in 2002 as a guide for rural secondary schools in New Zealand who were exploring the use of video conferencing as a means of expanding access to course options for students. Welcome to the LCO Handbook Group

imageThis group has been formed to promote participation around the ongoing use and development of the LCO Handbook. This handbook was started in 2002 as a guide for rural secondary schools in New Zealand who were exploring the use of video conferencing as a means of expanding access to course options for students. It was intended to provide a structured approach to the process of establishing the necessary environment within the school, based on the advice of experienced clusters.

The handbook has now been extensively updated, and is designed to supplement the online version which can be found in this group area. The online version has space for members to contribute items into the resource areas associated with the various cells on the handbook matrix. By doing this, you will be contributing to an ever-expanding wealth of knowledge and experience for others to tap into as they create their own learning communities online.

A printable copy of the handbook is available to download. This is intended as a reference for school leaders, BOTs and other parties to use, and has been designed to be incorporated into a folder into which supplementary resources and notes can be added.
