Week 7 Integrating Science and ESOL

  • Public
Last updated by Breda Matthews

Hi everyone,

Last Saturday saw another successful NZQA Roadshow, this time in Christchurch. It was great to see so many teachers on a swelteringly hot day!

I’d like to welcome all of the new members to our VLN groups.

Remember if you are waiting to join any VLN groups, please check that you have completed your profile with your full name, the name of your school / institution and your email at your school / institution. This is to ensure that only bona fide teachers access the resources.

Several teachers responded to Leanne request for ideas for combining ESOL and Science. Many thanks to all those who replied.

Don’t forget you can still upload materials to the Teachers’ Resource Exchange on ESOL Online. Not summative assessment tasks though - we need to keep them safe in our VLN groups!

Also on ESOL Online - have you managed to find time to view the new ELLP support pages? It’s a good time of year to view Using the ELLP matrices to plan for student learning needs in particular.

TKI have updated their National Events and The New Zealand Curriculum page for 2018. This with help with forward planning for 2018. Term 1 includes Waitangi Day, Chinese New Year, Earth Day and Anzac Day.

Friday 15th December is the last date for list list which will reopen on 15th January.

On Other communities

and Primary ESOL Online discussed parent engagement.

Have good final week.
