Week 3: ERO and opportunity to reflect not panic.

Hi everyone

     Another busy week with discussions regarding ERO visits.  A large number of people shared their experiences of ERO visits which were resoundingly positive. Although ERO can seem daunting it is often a good opportunity to reflect on systems and procedures and how we are meeting students needs.


Teachers identified a number of things ERO were interested in including providing for priority learners, student pathways, monitor student learning, departmental self-review and pastoral care for students.

In addition to starting a great conversation about ERO visits Rachel Hartles has shared summative English language unit standards assessment resources on our VLN group and formative resources on this listserve. MANY, MANY  thanks Rachel.


Julie Luxton provided us with the link to register for the Auckland and Hamilton Best Practice Workshops. Please sign up or we run the risk of not having these hugely helpful events.

Rewordify is a free website that will take a text with challenging vocabulary and simplify it and, at the stroke of a computer key, produce vocabulary tasks e.g. quizzes, matching tasks and clozes to teacher the more difficult vocabulary.
