Hi everyone,

Another lively week with lots of discussion.
However first I would like to highlight Heni Fabre's response to the discussion on electronic resources. A system glitch prevented his response being distributed at the time and it was an important contrbution to the conversation. Heni talks about the use of Chromebooks at Aorere College, appropriate use of these and teacher upskilling.
Also last week we had further discussion on:
To be answered
A query from Heather about the relationship of ELLP (the English Language Learning Progressions) and ELIP (the English Language Intensive Programme)
  • Membership of VLN EAP and EL unit standards groups. Only people who are bona fide teachers can be accepted into the VLN EAP or EL unit standards groups. This is so that we can ensure that the shared resources can be used for summative assessment purposes.  If you are waiting for acceptance to these groups please check that you have completed your profile so that we can verify this.
On other communities
On Primary ESOL Online Janet posted on avoiding the summer slide and summer safety.
On Secondary Literacy Online Alana posted on a number of topics including
  • Engaging boys
  • Whanau and student voice
  • Three level guides to promote critical thinking
Do take time to read these thoughtful reports.

Don't forget  the links will only work if you have logged in to the archive on ESOL Online - using the following:

Many thanks to all those who posted, responded to and read our discussions this week.
Kind regards
