Tēnā whakatata atu ki ā tātou tamariki o Te Kura o Piki Kōtuku i a rātou e kōrero tahi ana mō te hira nui o tēnei mea te waiata.

Our ‘waiata’ contain examples of simple and/or metaphoric poetic language.  When listening to, or sharing waiata think about your interpretation of the meaning of the waiata.  Talk with others about their interpretations of the same waiata.  Do a bit of research to find out about the composer and their reasons for composing the waiata.  Increase your vocabulary and range of sentence structures by stealing examples from waiata to use in you mihimihi and/or general conversation.  Join our tamariki from ‘Te Kura o Piki Kōtuku’ as they discuss what they feel is important when singing ‘waiata’.
