Our kids from Te Kura o Piki Kōtuku prepare for a trip to Waipā river.  Kōkā Pēti and Matua Hohepa express their concerns about the land - Papatūānuku. Whaea Puāwai reminds the students about wearing appropriate footwear for their walk.  Rāwinia gives a bit of cheek to Tāwera about his big feet but of course he's fast to respond with a come back line.

Good morning everybody!

Te katoa

Ngā mihi hoki o te ata ki a koe, Kōkā Pēti!

Good morning to you, Kōkā Pēti!

Tomorrow we are going to Waipā River to clean up the playground and riverbank areas. How some can people disrespect Papatūānuku is incomprehensible!

Matua Hōhepa

Koinei tā tātou mahi ā-kura hei whakakapi ake i te kaupapa Tiaki Taiao mō tēnei wāhanga. Aua atu, he mahi mutunga kore tēnei mō tātou, mō ngā kaitiaki. Hei mātāpono hoki mō te kura.

This is a school-wide initiative to conclude our Protect the Environment study for this term. Nevertheless, as guardians, this is always our responsibility. And of course it’s one of our school values.

Whaea Puāwai

Kāti rā, kia tika ō koutou kākahu mō tēnei mahi piere nuku. Me mau hū, pūtu, kamupūtu rānei ia tamaiti, nērā?

Right then, make sure you are wearing appropriate clothing for this arduous task. Each child must wear shoes, boots or gumboots, is that clear?

Te katoa

Āe, Whaea Puāwai!

Yes, Miss Puāwai!

Rāwinia

He mātātaki tēnā māu, nērā, Tāwera? Hehehe.

Ooh, that’ll be a challenge for you, eh Tāwera? Wearing shoes on those wide as feet? Hehehe.

Tāwera

Hei, he waetea te tangata nei, ahakoa te momo hū!

Hey, I’m still a good runner no matter the shoe!
