Traditionally people all over the world and through time have told stories about natural phenomena to try to explain them. In our western world the scientists are telling those stories now using their own language and symbols. Here is a chance to bring traditional stories and ideas about how the world works and western scientific ideas about how the world works together. By bringing the two views of the world into parallel we can develop a deeper, rounder understanding of events and places.
This is an opportunity to bring in members of your community to share their ideas with your students. My hope is that your students will come up with their own questions about how the world works and have the chance to examine the traditional stories and test the ideas with science thinking side by side.
