From the conference site: http://www.netsafe.org.nz/conference2012/:

Wellington, 26th & 27th November 2012

The internet is entering its third phase. As technology gets faster and smarter, we will constantly be connected. Being offline will no longer be an option. This will bring benefits, and challenges. It will mean that we have to develop our skills further as successful digital citizens to derive the benefits from this "internet of things" but there will also be more scams, more malware, more crime, more harassment, more privacy issues. As they say in the words of the song, the times they are a changin'. But its no time to get fatalistic and break out the final countdown. It may be the end of the world as we know it, but I feel fine.

Cyberspace might be the land of confusion, but we can't just sit around holding out for a hero. This is our community, and these are our challenges. Challenges that we expect to solve with a little help from our friends.

You can't start a fire without a spark so if you're into digital safety, security or citizenship and don't have the patience to sit around waiting on the world to change - this is the conference for you. A line up of challenging local and international contributors feeds interactive workshops around contemporary digital safety and citizenship challenges."
