Hi,

We're interested to know what you are doing by way of managing conditions for use of computers in internal assessments and practice exams.

In some situations we need to ensure that students can't access the internet or saved work, and we're wondering if any of you have discovered ways of doing this?

Thanks,

Rebecca and Suzann :-)

Hi Rebecca and Suzann, interesting times with access to computers etc, reminds me of when they first introduced calculators in maths exams, changed the way we thought about processing maths problems then too (so long ago **sigh**).

I might be on the wrong track here, but last year Enabling e-Learning hosted a webinar and a supporting thread that highlighted a different view on assessment - using digital assessment practices.

NZQA Assessment online: 14 October. Presenter, Steve Bargh (NZQA) talked about how:

NZQA is working towards moving external student assessment to the online environment. He shared

    • piloting and test opportunities for schools
    • technical requirements
    • an introduction to what other jurisdictions are doing (for example British Columbia, the Netherlands), the issues and challenges they faced and the lessons learned, and how this is shaping NZQA’s thinking.

Steve's presentation, Digital Assessment: NZQA's journey is shared below and the webinar is supported by the thread, NZQA and Assessment online. Watch the recording >>>

Schools will also be invited to get involved in NZQA pilot schemes. Your thoughts and experiences will be able to help shape this process for the future.

Does this sound like something that might interest your school/s?
