Welcome 2015.

i am always looking for new digital resources demonstrating various aspects of Digital Citizenship that I can share with and discuss with the year 7 & 8 students and teachers. In the past I have used You tube clips like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o8auwnJtqE (demonstrating social media and exploitation), https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hK5OeGeudBM . I also find professor Garfield for the year 7 students is good, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPFZObMOPuA, a bit young for some but the YAPPY acronym message is well remembered. Just a few. Also At a Distance from Netsafe is excellent and the DVD with Tem Morrison and piracy (can't remember the name of it)I think it was sent to schools in 2011...

Anyway just wondering if anyone has some more good digital resources that encourage thinking and conversation with Intermediate Students.

I use the Common Sense material as well for our Years 7 to 10 students for the same reason. I have modified some of the material in Moodle to suit the culture of our students. However, I don't have time to re-do the videos. Generally they are fairly balanced in culture/gender etc though.

I have been using the Common sense material as it is well set out and has some great interactive games for my year 7&8 class. They have a new game for this age group

    Hi,

I spent last year creating the world's largest cybersmart education portal of world-wide resources in this area.

I have not yet released it to the public as I am now working on

    (i) cutting the loading time (sometimes up to three minutes on a PC in a school) by replacing all embedded videos with an image and a link that opens up the each video from its original source

ii) which in turn will also allow the page to achieve copyright compliance

However, to help you out, here is a link to the hidden but ongoing work (should be finished and launched within the next two weeks):
