Greetings All,

I am keen to apply for funding from TLIF for integrated curriculum in High School context. Are there any teachers looking at this - either in the high school context or even primary and intermediate.

    Hi there Gautam,

I think that curriculum integration at the secondary level is a much needed area of development.

You might be interested in this story about Fraser High School - http://nzcurriculum.tki.org.nz/Curriculum-stories/School-snapshots/Fraser-High-School. Sam Cunnane could be someone worth talking to ... you could contact him via his blog http://curriculumintegrationproject.blogspot.co.nz/

    Best wishes,

    Adele O'Leary.

    Greetings Gautam,

It's very cool to know that you are keen to apply for project funding.

It would be great if other folks in this group (including those yet to join) are able to share ideas with you - and vice-versa.

    Cheers, Ed

Hi Gautam, I am a Learning Team Leader at Hobsonville Point Secondary School. We are integrating learning and using collaborative teaching within the three aspects of our curriculum (Specialised Learning Modules, Big Projects and Hubs)... here is a small insight into our journey through my blogging journey, there are many of us that blog... https://sallyhart72.wordpress.com/ we were Yr 9 only last year, this year Yr 9 and 10 and then add a year each year until up to Year 13.

    Hi Gautum

I will be looking at much the same topic next term on sabbatical. I am planning to visit a range of schools that are involved in implementing integrated curricula, ideally at secondary school. I have identified a few schools that, I am told, are going down this route so perhaps we can collaborate? I am particularly interested in schools that are not MLE, like mine, to see if its possible to make something work even if the classroom set up is currently more traditional.

    Hi Phillip,

Yes, it would be awesome if we could collaborate - I am very keen. Although our school is not yet in that space I am going to do this anyway and talking to like minded people would be awesome.

I have some definite ideas and have a tentative skeleton in place. I now need other secondary teachers to bounce ideas off. The more I talk to staff in my school the more I am exposed to varied viewpoints and possible hurdles.

I am putting in my application for TLIF and if that is approved at the concept stage then your input would be definitely needed.

Do keep in touch and let's talk often.

    Hello Gautum and Phillip,

Celia Fleck is our HOD HPE and is the leader in our school for the Sport in Education Project. As part of this she has started and integrated HPE, Maths, English course at year 11, taught by two teachers accross three lines of the timetable and this year a year 12 course course with integrated Media Studies, HPE and English taught by two teachers across three lines.

Last year the year 11 class had some very good outcomes, pastoral, wellbeing, engagement and Level 1 achievement - especially in integrated assessment tasks.

Celia will be happy to be contacted going forward and will probably join this forum at some stage, but you can message me for her contact details.
