Hi folks - hoping someone can help. Our music teacher wanted to load garageband on our PCs for a class and of course, he can't as it's for ios or Macs. What is the PC alternative?
Has anyone used this software ? if so, can I get my students to use it? Its software that processes and gives you visual representation of a piece of music - I'm wondering if its kosher for students to use it for and with their compositions in NCEA?

Brent and Nathaniel - thanks so much! Thought about it afterwards and remembered Audacity and also Acid Express. I've used audacity to edit sound clips, but the teacher actually wants to compose so I'll need to sus them out!
PC has many equivalents to Garageband - one of the free ones is Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows
Another popular free one is Reaper http://www.reaper.fm/download.php
Hi Annemarie
I don't have a definite answer for you as I haven't used any alternatives myself but you might find something at the following websites:
Good luck!
