Looking for ways to offer creative pathways towards learning in secondary? Check out this year's Mix and Mash Competition. here are the details, via Matt McGregor (Creative Commons Aotearoa)>>

imageWith DigitalNZ and the National Library, they're running Mix & Mash, a remix and mashup competition looking encourage students and the public to creatively (and legally) reuse works from our cultural heritage.

The competition is being run in three entry windows, with two left to run - August and November. The winners of the first window have just been announced: http://mixandmash.org.nz/showcase

Entries due in August 2013

For the next entry window (deadline August 9), all students have to do is tell a story—in whatever form they wish, be it text, photography, video, animation, painting, music or some astonishing new combination—using NZ data or content that is out of copyright or has a Creative Commons licence.  There are prizes of between $50 and $2000 in vouchers for school students up for grabs.

If you want to learn more about Creative Commons licensing, check out their site: http://www.creativecommons.org.nz/ If you’ve never heard of CC, here’s a short animated video:

Any questions—about Mix & Mash or Creative Commons—please get in touch with Matt.
