Hi,
Just wondering how schools are connecting to local printers from Ipads and Ipods. What printer apps work the best. We have a Konica Minolta .... seems to be standard photocopier in most school.
I use Printerpro at home which works well but haven't been able to make this work at school.
Kia ora Linda From my experience it seems to be based on how the school IT system is set up to whether apps like Printshare work as some networks have passwords attached to printing budgets. It may mean that you have to go through a PC. Best to talk to the IT person for a solution.
This problem has been my achilles heel with setting up assistive technology in other peoples' schools! Never quite as simple as one would hope!
I use Smart Device Print(FREE), we have a ricoh photocopier - no Mac's in the school (boohoo) the ipads just print wirelessly - it's great.

Printopia is magic- no idea how it works but don't need to- as long as it does.

At Springston School we use Printopia, set up on a central iMac. It works brilliantly.
It looks like it's Mac only, and a demo is available for you to test drive. It's only US$19.95. The only requirement is that the computer has to be on and logged in for the iPads to be able to print. We have set it so that printing is through a student account and is black and white only. We do very little printing though (it's not encouraged), as most work is published through blogs.
