The Inspire Net Manawatu Digi Awards is a very successful student eLearning competition and awards evening held in the Manawatu.  This year 38 schools entered and 900 entries were received. Our 2012 awards evening was held on 12 November at the Regent Theatre to a 'sell out' (the tickets were free!) crowd of 1400 people.  The standard of entries was very high and atmosphere on the night was electrifying as students waited to hear 'and the award goes to ...'!  Below is a selection of award winners.  To view all the category and supreme award winners and to find out more about the Inspire Net Manawatu Digi Awards (including category information and judging rubrics) visit thedigiawards.wikispaces.com

Thanks so much Lyn for sharing this with us all - especially those who couldn't make it to the Manawatu Digi awards evening. Thank you also for inviting me to be a judge in this special event. I thought the quality was OUTSTANDING! Here are the Yr7/8 winners for Book trailer, Documentary and Animation categories.

Book trailer: I thought this video about the book, Golem was amazing. The viewer becomes the actual book character - living the story. it really made me want to read the book.

Mini documentary: This is a very professional looking documentary about the school's Science Fair Investigation. Just what you'd expect to see - area of investigation, reporters, interviews, cut-a-way clips, voice-overs etc. Lovely quality and very informative.

Animation: This narrated animation of the Highwayman is stunning - the quality of clear voice narration combined with gaming-style imagery, is of a high quality.

    Hi Tessa,

Thanks for being part of the judging group.  Your comments are excellent and were valued by the students and their teachers. The biggest success story of the MDAs is the year-long inspiration, motivation and learning opportunities they provided.  The engagement and eLearning growth during 2012 has been a hot topic of conversation amongst BOT members in many of the schools that entered.  And to top it all off, the organising team really enjoyed putting the event together. Smile
