Who do you follow? Where do you get your professional learning online?

As I visit schools and share my love of learning online with other educators, I am often asked "Who do you follow online?"  "How do I choose who to listen to and where do I begin?"

For me there is a huge overlap here between my twitter network and my professional learning network. Because I have chosen to keep twitter for learning and facebook for friendships, I generally only follow people who have something eductional to say and often what begins as a twitter connection, links into me following their blog or hooking into their website for even more learning.

3 of my current favourites.

Mr G online - Mark Gleeson blogs about "iPads, web tools, 21st Century learning, Maths Ed and all other things educational I'll think of!" He is candid, well written and seems to cut to the chase on most things that are on top in ICT education.

Silvia Tolisano Rosenthal blogs as Langwitches. She has worked as a World Language teacher, Technology Integration Facilitator and 21st Century Learning Specialist. Her passions include globally connected learning, technology integration, 21st Century skills and literacies, as well as digital storytelling.

Teaching the teacher, Stephanie teaches year 7/8 students in Wellington, New Zealand. "I blog on education issues and my experiences of being a Beginning Teacher in the New Zealand school system. I’m really passionate about integrating digital technology into the classroom and using social media to expand learning opportunities for both students and teachers. I also blog on educational issues in the New Zealand media when they come up." I love how Stephanie's energy and passion for education come through in her blog posts.

All of these educators quote real "in school" "hands on" experiences and regularly update their blogs, which I subscribe to in an email feed.

Who do you follow? And why?

Please share your favourites below to build up a resource for those new to online learning.

Kia ora Catriona - I still feel new to this 'following' game but will share how I've started.  I started following people that I connected with on a F2F level - someone that inspired me, someone exciting, someone that captured my attention.  At this stage I have a few 'connected' friends and have made further connections through them.  It's sort of the "if he/she likes them, is sharing about them...then I'll check them out too" approach.  But now that I've made these connections I now need to get myself sharing and contributing more...@Sonya Van Schaijik  has offered me a challenge and I best not disappoint - I will get there Sonya and start posting via Blogger and/or in other spaces soon - I have been thinking about where and how to start ....so once you get followed there is an expectation to continue sharing...keeping the relationship, the connection alive.  Will keep you posted about my efforts!
