Here are some of the key messages from TMoA.

  • Ko te ākonga te pūtake - o te mātauranga/marautanga/ako
  • Working in collaboration with whānau, hapū, iwi, hāpori
  • Gazetted in 2011
  • Document has been written for Level 1 & 2 Māori Medium environments
  • Expectation that TMoA will be used by Level 1 & 2 Māori Medium environments
  • Localised curriculum / School curriculum - curriculum that is meaningful to your students, whānau, hapū, iwi, hāpori
  • Effective pedagogy - various strategies and methodologies
  • Encourages whānau to engage with curriculum
  • An opportunity to revisit the vision statement of the kura.  Is it still appropriate?
  • There's no one way of doing it!
  • It's ok to start exploring the wāhanga ako
  • Graduate Profile is owned by everyone
  • The bigger the document the less impact it will have on learning
  • Keep it simple, and attainable
  • Building relationships - with te katoa, invites kura to connect with all stakeholders
  • Parallel with the NZC - equal mana

  • Student voices - including current and past pupils

Questions to think about:

  • What is the programme trying to achieve?
  • How is the programme tracking in relation to expected outcomes?
  • Is the delivery methodology working?
  • Is delivery consistent with the programme plan?
  • How could delivery be changed to make it more effective?
  • How could the organisation be changed so as to make it more effective?
