I am in a school which has used this model but we have lost the background material and want to find out more about it. The name Finkle or Finkel came up. Has anyone used this model?
The names Finkel and Monk are associated with the model. I haven't used it in a purist form but I have read about it. #PBL is the Twitter hashtag.
Here are some links that may be handy, but they are not witten by Finkel and Monk, sorry:

The roots of PBL are in medical training, and a lot of the earlier literature is written for tertiary situations.

Thanks so much - I love the power of the VLN to connect and collaborate. This is a great space to collect resources for others to use about inquiry models. How about it, everyone?
Have opened some of these hyperlinks:

Stanford site - needed to search but found - http://www.stanford.edu/search/?cx=003265255082301896483%3Asq5n7qoyfh8&cof=FORID%3A9&ie=UTF-8&q=problem_based_learning&sa=Search&siteurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.stanford.edu%2Fresearch%2F

Hi Annemarie, sometimes problem based learning is referrred to as 'challenge or discovery based learning'...if we are talking the same language, then the following may also be useful

Thanks Tessa - it's all worth an explore.
Thanks for starting this discussion. It has reminded me of the possiblities and challenges of inquiry learning. (And that it seems to go by so many different names!).
Is their anyone out there using this approach in senior classes with NCEA assessment as the end focus?
David Kinane has tweeted a great link, What makes project-based learning a success? (Committed Sardine). This is one school's success story in Manor, Texas, where there is a strong commitment to consistent processes, relevance and rigor as well as a belief in relationships. Their results are hard to beat. The original post and the video makes for an inspiring read in a secondary school context.
