    Hi everyone,

Next year we are moving into an ILE with 5 teachers for two large "classes". One class / group of students will be Years 1-4 and the other Years 5-8. There will be around 50-60 students in each. I was wondering if any other schools had a similar structure? We can make our team of 5 teachers work however we want to, but I'm not sure the best way to go! Would it be to have 2 teachers for the Y1-4 and 2 teachers for the Y5-8 and a kind of roving teacher that goes in between? If anyone has any ideas / experience / input that would be fantastic!

    Thanks very much,

    Bronwyn  smiley

    Kia ora tatou,

Our school is rebuilding 4 classrooms for next year, so there will be two large MLE / ILEs with 2 teachers and 50-60 students in each. I was wondering what others think of which year levels work well together? What have your experiences been?

Any input / thoughts / ideas would be fantastic!

We use Screencastify on our Chromebooks:

Screencastify is a simple video screen capture software for Chrome.
Screencastify is a simple video screen capture software (aka. screencast recorder) for Chrome. It is able to record all screen activity inside a tab, including audio. Just press record and the content of your tab is recorded. So you can easily create a screencast for video tutorials, record presentations etc. It also supports desktop capturing, allowing you to record anything on your screen (not just tabs).

Thanks Nicky, that's what we were thinking of doing. Do your students upload their own videos (as in do they have a class password) or do you have to do it for them? We're trying to cut out the middle-person so it can be student managed! Also have you had any problems or issues with security? And also what happens when they leave at the end of their schooling with you, do you change the account or start a new one? If you want to e-mail me at school my address is bronwyn@corinna.school.nz Thanks so much for your help!

    Hi all,

We are looking for a solution for how to store student videos, and are wondering how other schools do this. Currently our students save their videos to their google drive, but we were wondering whether to enable them to have their own student accounts on YouTube for storing their digital media. If anyone has any ideas, genius solutions, or could just share what your school does that would be awesome.

    Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Louise, and really useful ideas. I use google calendar for all my planning but haven't been sharing my planning with the class, I think that's a great idea. Like you say it is a voyage of discovery, sometimes I just want to be nearer the end than the beginning, but must remind myself to enjoy the journey!

Thanks Tracey, that's exactly what I meant: students managing their own time and study. If at all possible would you be able to e-mail me a copy of your 'Must Do' sheet to have a look at? And is your Maths and Literacy work based on what they have done in a guided session with you? Also how do you monitor / mark the work your students are completing independently? I have a real range from super fast finishers to slow as slow to complete their learning (I guess we've all got those!!). Thanks very much again bronwyn@corinna.school.nz
