    Hi Everyone,

I am an ESOL/English teacher in Christchurch on study leave for the year. I am doing a masters action research project to design a professional development programme to explore culturally responsive teaching strategies and resources for teachers to help their Pasifika English language learners develop and express critical thinking skills. I have a few ideas already but would like some 'teacher voice' around the need for this type of PD and what format would be most useful for teachers. I have included a link to a Google Form that will take about 2 minutes to complete. It would be really helpful if you could take the time to complete and submit it for me.

    Cheers, Lauren

    Hi,

I am about to start a teaching as inquiry project on introducing digital game-based learning and/or gamification in a senior ESOL class to improve student voluntary verbal communication and collaboration. I have a highly motivated group of senior students who don't talk to each other in class unless directed to by the teacher. Some digital tools I already use or intend to try in this class are Kahoot, Quizlet, Socrative, Spaceteam, Epic Citadel and Google Feud. I am really interested to hear from ESOL teachers about what GBL or gamifiied sites or apps they use with their ESOL students and if it improves collaboration and communication.
