    Hi Rachel

DTSL (Catherine Brill) and The Laptop Company (Adam Starr) are both great at supporting schools. Catherine from DTSL runs courses on specific iPad apps and both Catherine and Adam are very knowledgeable on what is required to work for school systems. When I worked at Special Education these were the main suppliers we used in Wellington.

I'm having a frustrating day creating dynamic Boardmaker boards as they are not reading the wav files. Has anyone else had this problem and know a workaround?

Story Park is a great resource for schools and early childhood centres to use where staff and parents can easily create a quick blog of a students progress both from home and school. Would make IEP's more interesting and dynamic for families.

This year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities today provides an opportunity to generate discussion to further raise awareness of disability.

The theme this year is “The promise of technology”.  This is about harnessing the power of technology to promote inclusion and accessibility to help realize the full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in society, contributing to sustainable development for all.

    Three areas of focus are

How technology helps disabled people participate

Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Responses

    Creating Enabling Work Environments.

We want YOU to send us one sentence to demonstrate the power of technology has in your life today.

                   My ______ means I can ________

                   In an emergency my _______

At work my _________ lets me _________

These sentences will be put together to demonstrate the importance of access to equipment and the impact it has for us.

We will compile these sentences (with no names), put them on our website for everyone to share as a educational resource.   My goal is to have 25 sentences by lunchtime.  How many can we get by the end of today?

Send Rachel Noble (Chief Executive) your message rachel.noble@dpa.org.nz

Check out the HelpKidzLearn website for a free, switch accessible, Advent Calendar. It has a different game for each day. If you are not already a member you will need to login first, which will also give you access to other free games/activities.

Hi. I have set up the group Let's Korero! but when Let's korero is typed into the search engine it comes up with the following error message: Exception #1416255887. I have tried a couple of the other tags which seem to work.

    Hi Michelle.

The problems are with a mix of iPads, some iPads 2 and some newer models. It worked on my phone and I'm loving all the new accessability options, I haven't trailled the new Guided Access timer feature yet so I must give it a go tonight. Cheers

I'm not sure what success other users are having with iOS8 but it is creating a few issues so be careful before you update your iPad. Lots of our apps and some settings are no longer working correctly, including Clicker Sentences and Guided Access. My own iPad crashed and looks like it might need a hard reset. I would suggest waiting until more of the developers have fixed the compatability issues with the new operating system.

On the plus side it does have some great new accessability features.
