Hi Anne
I found that http://www.starfall.com/ is excellent to use and students love this. It is a free website to teach children to read with phonics, with exciting phonics games and online interactive books.
Hope it helps.
Hi Renee
I have to agree, Kidblog is great to use and manage.
The same happened to me and the guys at kidblog were very helpful and increase my class' upload limit. Just contact the support@kidblog team - I'm sure they will be able to help you without you having to upgrade to the premium membership.
Good luck and happy blogging!

Hi Tracey
Good on you for looking at introducing blogging with your NE students. I'm sure they'll love you for it!!
I use Blogger (blogspot) for our class blog (very easy). Each student in my class also have their own blog, to share personal learning (we use Kidblog for this). You can have a look at it: http://kidblog.org/Little-Giants2013/
If you're going to look at participating in QuadBloggingAotearoa, with your students being new to blogging, I would suggest you start with a class blog first.
Good luck and keep us updated on your journey with blogging!

Hi Allanah
We're currently on an iPad trial and this device is very new to my NE/Year 1 students.
This shows how one student used EE for the first time.
She drew a picture using Doodle Buddy, uploaded picture and described her picture.
Hello everyone
Anybody using SOLO with their junior students? How is it working in your class, for you, students? Would appreciate ideas and examples if possible, please.
I am aware of the following books:
SOLO Taxonomy: A Guide for Schools Book 1 & Book 2 (currently using)
SOLO Taxonomy in the Early Years (recently bought)
Thank you
Kia ora Catriona,
Wow, I like the potential of this! Thank you so much for sharing.
Hi Fiona
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on vocaroo. I know about it, but have never used it with my 5 year olds. I like your idea of using it to record your students thinking!
Have you tried Fotobabble? It's a cute, fun way to share and it allows students to create and share Talking Photos in three simple steps: 1) Upload a photo; 2) Record your voice; 3) Share (post on a blog).
Hi Josie
Well done on starting to blog with your class!
There is little more disheartening for a new blogger than to find that nobody reads your blog posts. Attracting an audience and having them comment on your blog is a lifeline for many bloggers and encourages them to write more and develop their skills and styles. Comments indicate that your blog is being read and you have an audience.
Therefore, I would again recommend QuadBloggingAotearoa. It is an excellent concept to give blogs an audience for young school bloggers. Also great to have that connection with New Zealand Schools.
Commenting is a lengthy process with junior students (You can read my blogpost about it).
Good luck and happy blogging/commenting!
Kia ora Catriona
Thank you for your question.
I am interested in all e-Learning tools (online, iPod, iPad) that will/can capture student learning (tools that 5 year olds can use independently), as well as ones I can use within my Formative Assessment Practices.
I am really interested in a classroom that promotes e-Learning and am using e-Learning tools to enable and transform learning.
Which e-Learning tools can you think of to use with our 5 year olds and why would you choose that specific tool with your students?
