Principals need to have a a vision for e-learning, discuss a plan of action with staff that are will be leading the PD and learning through the year. All staff, regardless of levels of competency should benefit from the PD programme that has been put in place. An e-learning vision is essential and needs to be revisited on a regular basis.  Will the use of of e-learning impact on student achievement in a positive way? Staff need to trial and provide feedback, it must have a specific leanring purpose in order for it to considered beneficial for teachers and students. The principal appoint key staff to take on a leadership inquiry regarding e-learning and report back to staff on a regular basis.

How can principals take an active role in their school’s strategic planning to use technologies as part of effective teaching and learning?

Appoint staff to use different technologies and tools over the year. Review the use of technologies and impact for student learning and teaching. Highighting the pro's and cons of using different software. Involve key people in the strategic planning process - that can make realistic and measurable goals that can be achieved with the timeframes set. Principals can discuss effectiveness of e-leanring with other schools - reviewing advantages/disadvantages. Get staff to share their findings and get feedback from all members from the schooling community.

How might principals grow their capacity to lead the resourcing of e-learning?

Principals need to carry out a staff, student and community survey as to what they might see as e-leanring. What tools are essential for impacting on student learning and achievement. Review planning and programmes that are working well and resourcing that can be developed upon. Discussions with staff that are using digital tools effectively will be an important in resourcing an area.

How might your decisions about school resourcing of e-learning impact on property, personnel or finance?

School resourcing for e-learning might/will invovle new learning spaces, in terms of personnel - employing or using current staff that are capable at facilitating e-learning within and beyond the classroom walls. Budgeting will involve making considerations for e-leanring and how much should a school invest in PD, infastructure and the overall financial budget. The impact on e-learning on is huge with taking BYOD considerations into accoutn as well. It challenges teaching pedagogy and allows for new platforms to be used in teaching and leanring scenario's.

Yes - defnitely a debate we have and seem to go around in circles. Glad to know that your staff found using google drive and finding it easy to pick up. Very interesting - so you have office 365 and it is optional to use Ros? Is there a financial outlay to using 365?

Which way do we go to meet the needs of the learners? - keeping mind we are tansitioning to become a fully operational BYOD school by the start of 2015. We have had teachers trial Google apps with great success -- I have not used 365 as yet. Anyone that has used both applications can you provide any feedback/forward?

The principal in communication with staff - throuh meetings, surveys and regular discussions needs to be aware of teacher practice and evolving nature of technology. Student voice is important in the process as  they are digitally skilled and aware of how to use a variety of software etc. The principal will need tpo re-visit his/her vision and purpose for e-learning. Review infastructure and in consultation with staff, community, BOT recognise the need of how to best to resource the school.

A review of teaching spaces needs to occur in ragrds to layout,IT infastructure, desks, chairs, e-learning spaces. Recognsing key staff that are able to effectively integrate e-learning into their programme. These teachers need to model these practics and share them on a regular basis. As your infastructure and technologilcal capabaility evolves so does your school, staff and overall teaching and learning philosophy.
