Kia ora everyone, Attached are some Pāngarau resources that we have found useful at De La Salle College which you may want to include in your unit planning when catering for Maori students and Te Reo Maori.
1) Tukutuku Patterns (algebra) http://nzmaths.co.nz/resource/tukutuku-patterns-0
2) MuTorere – A Maori Mathematics game
3) Maori Waka activity (linear algebra AS1.4)
4) Maori Measurement Activity (Curriculum levels 2-4)
5) Pāngarau Glossaries
Make sure you have a game of MuTorere with your staff and students!

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori/ Māori language week will be in Term 3 week 1 from Monday, 21 July to Sunday, 27 July 2014. This special week provides an opportunity to learn and celebrate te reo Māori. The theme for this year is "Te kupu o te wiki, The word of the week". This theme promotes learning te reo Māori throughout the year. Te kupu o te wiki will introduce 50 new Māori words to the nation over 50 weeks – one new word a week over approximately a year. After 50 weeks, New Zealanders will have 50 new Māori words in their vocabulary.
This page on the NZ Curriculum site is packed full with useful information and links to resources

I am very excited about this challenge, especially thinking about Te Reo Maori in Mathematics.
Let’s collaborate in building our kite of mathematical terms in Te Reo. http://bit.ly/1mTcMwq
My first kupu is ‘ tāpiritanga’ which means ‘addition’.
It will be great if we could share one idea / strategy of how you have or will be planning to incorporate this year’s theme or Maori contexts into your teaching practice in mathematics.

katarina, 'Teacher dashboard' is a great idea and lots of teachers have indicated that it would be of great help. I will try and contact nzmaths regarding this.

I agree with you, Rob. e-ako nzmaths is great for our students. Latest additions include strands (Geometry and measurement) as well.

My goal for this week is to use numbers in Samoan language during staff meetings. What is your goal for this week?
Kia ora everyone,
Following up on Samoan language week post by Nane Rio,
What strategies / activities are we planning to implement to celebrate the Samoan language week in our Mathematics classrooms? It will be great to share at least one idea so that we could build a resource which could be used with our students throughout the year and not just during this week.
