Thanks for the suggestions of your favourite maths apps.  I have found another exciting app since my discover of Show Me.  I really like the this one and look forward to using it next term.  It has features similar to Show Me but it has a keyboard.  This appeals to me (the neat freak I am), it also gives a variety of text sizes when writing on the keyboard and when using your finger. Educreations (free) http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/educreations-interactive-whiteboard/id478617061?mt=8

iPad covers - we have a variety - one like leather that cost $10, the down side is the cover needs to come off to take photos/videos.  The first covers we purchased have a magnetic shut top and cost $60 each however the material is coming away from the latch (I am assuming this is due to overuse - which I would consider to be a good thing).

I am now on the hunt for memory match maths apps - oodles to explore and all seem to cost - is anyone using a good one they could recommend?

Yes we are successfully using study ladder on our iPads.  We are using Rover to enable the flash player :)

I am planning to take a workshop in the holidays that highlights the use of iPads within the maths programme.

I am very keen to hear from all of you about what is working well, at what levels and why?

I myself have had recent success with the show me app.  Students will use this app to reconsolidate learning independently by recording their WALT and strategies used to achieve success.

It is an excellent way to gather evidennce of learning through the students writing, retell being written and steps verbally recorded, as well as photos taken and recorded if materials are used to problem solve.  This can then be emailed to the teacher or uploaded to the class blog page.

I look forward to you sharing some of your success stories of what apps are being used within your maths programme.

Thanks Allanah - I have Puppet Pals and see you need the Directors Pass to be able to take photos of the kids to have them as characters in the play.  I have been playing with Show Me and successfully uploaded it to my blog - I am rapt!  I am having problems adding photos from my camera roll onto the ShowMe page though - I will persevere:)  Will look into Book Creator.

Thanks... this is the first I have heard about photo transfer - I have looked online and will talk with my IT to look into uploading :)

Thank you for sharing this information - I have had a news presenter approach in mind since term 1 but have not put a plan in place as yet - we have a discovery time experience every second Monday and you have given me an idea...to change my photographer using a camera to using the iPad.

How successfully are people integrating iPads into their daily literacy and numeracy programmes in the senior school?  I would love to hear about what apps / programmes are user friendly and working well.  I have 2 iPads in a Year 5-6 class and have really just explored using it as a games activity, taking lexile quizzes and tests, viewing and commenting on blogs.  I want to lift the authentic use of the iPad within my daily programmes and have begun investigating the use of Voice Thread and iMovie, whiteboard for reflections etc.  My stumbling block at the moment is sharing photo / video footage from other devices to the iPad.  Looking forward to hearing some inspiring senior school stories.

Thank you for the great responses - this brick wall of passwords became  apparent to me when I was at educamp in Dunedin and realised I was unable to get apps etc.  My take home message that I took back to my Principal was to seek training for the iPads...we had training with stuartnz "Online Training" yesterday which opened up yet another layer of where to next questions.  I am liking the idea that teachers get maybe a $20 budget to buy apps and the IT and maybe myself as ICT lead teacher can load the apps.  But with the $20 they load what they would like to use themselves as another conversation with our IT was that if all iPads had the same apps they could be used as a pod.  Hence these apps should be purchased not from the classroom budget for apps.  I do want to find a way to give the teachers ownership which will hopefully light their enthusiasm to use purposefully within the daily programmes of the classroom.
