    Hi there,

asking on behalf for one of my teachers: He is lookign for a reliable, straightforward and preferably free app he could have students use to dictate text from laptop into Google Docs. He would also be interested in an app that could read text back to students. Any suggestions?

    Many thanks, Monika

Only just realised this is under my ancient post lol don't want to think about how many gadgets and apps I've bought since lol

Thanks for the Freebie tip, Innes, to save me from researching further, are there any other apps in the Freebie Bundle that are must-installs?

    Thanks heaps, Monika

Sorry for the late reply, Johan,

have you looked at Prezi and at Haiku Deck? Both have an iPad app as well as the web version.

Let me know how you go :)

    Hi Johan,

yes, many of us are still eagerly awaiting an app allowing editing of Google Slides on iOS. According to this article is it 'coming soon'.

Sorry to be of no more help. Would you be interested in looking at different collaborative presentation tools in the meantime?

    Cheers, Monika

Thanks, Steve, I just added that Read&Write for Google extension after I saw it used at one of my 'Gaye Byers' schools. I find the added functions of collecting highlights etc. very useful. Thanks!

Oh, Dave, I feel so dumb! Why did I think that wasn't an option from a Chromebook?? Yes, that perfectly answers the first part of the question. Has anyone got any other interesting ideas we could try?

    Many thanks!!!

    Hi there,

this questions covers both GAFE and Chromebooks so I am posting it in both groups.

At one of my schools, since the introduction of 1:1 Chromebooks for y4-8, some students' writing has 'gone through the roof'. The teachers have been inserting student writing into the student blog, but we are looking at more innovative ways of doing so as the length of text has some readers loose interest.

One of the options we are looking at is using a site like Youblisher (new to me via the wonderful Barbara Reid) to create flipbooks to embed into the blogs. For this you require PDFs; how do students on a Chromebook easily create a PDF from a GDoc, please?

We will also experiment with WeVideo, with Movenote, we have had a look at some iPad apps (but that adds a few more steps to the process we felt - maybe we are wrong?). What else can you recomment to make our stories more engaging when we embed them into the blog?

    Many thanks for your suggestions!!!

    Hi there,

one of my school has Samsung tablets. Last week we discovered they needed a software update. The teacher has done that, and now the tablet requests an update to the Samsung account. She is not sure she has the correct account details (we are checking this at the moment).

Have you got any tips about resetting or even deleting a Samsung account? I have a Nexus tablet so I have no first hand experience if a) a Samsung account is needed / helpful, and b) if it can be reset or deleted and how.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!! Many thanks in advance!!! Monika
