As a result of engaging in NAPP/EEL conversations online, I can now apply leadership thinking and strategies that …

I'm not sure that I'm focussing on strategies - but as a result of the online and offline conversations I am more aware than ever for the need to have a strong supportive leadership team around you - one that will support your initiatives, run with your vision, and, most importantly, one that will be honest with you.

Hi All - have just purchased istopmotion and imovie to go on some of our ipads - can anyone tell me where i'll find the receipt for billing - my boss paid with credit card and needs the receipt - but it hasn't gone to the email address used and i can't figure out where to look when i'm logged in at the VPP page.

I'm the eLearning lead teacher at Raumati Beach Primary school. Last year we purchased 48 ipads. We fitted out a mini-charging centre in the back room behind my classroom and can charge all 48 in one go - we had this done by one of the local electricians. We use a google doc for booking the ipads in sets of 5 - teachers book them for all or parts of a day. I have a group of students trained up to run this system - they unlock the cupboard and distribute out the ipads in the morning and then collect them at the end of the day and put them back on charge - a system that seems to be working well (and which will have to work well for Term 2 while I'm away!).

I used configurator to set up the ipads with the same apps - currently all free apps - but in Term 3 we'll look at some paid apps as well.

Interesting conversations - I've just got my 48 iPads yesterday. I've got 4 of them at home working out what FREE apps to have on them - interestingly i was able to set them up (at lunch time in the staff room much to the delight of the teachers) in less than 5 mins each (did 2 at a time) with no computer and NO itunes ID - by using apple configurater to install the free apps there's no need to go to the app store - internet access for google apps & blogging. I think we'll give these a go like this for a while and then make some decisions on paid apps.

I've got 48 iPad2s ordered for school. It looks like the apple configurator app will work with free apps ok - but more problematic for paid apps ... once the ipads arrive i'll check out how confiurator works.

This year I've been to three educamps - Wellington, Dunedin and Invercargill. They were all very different which is fantastic. The best thing about educamps is that the way they run on the day depends on the people involved. I loved the intimacy of the Invercargill one - we had ~13 people which made the conversations totally different - we ended up having what amounted to an extended smackdown time. I really enjoyed the conversations we had and the connections we made. I had met a number of the people before (at educampdunners) but this time got to know them a lot better.

A big thanks to those who organised the day - Mark, Jazz, Craig & Tim for hosting it at his school - really enjoyed the school tour as well - lots of ideas for the future.

We spent two days last week doing the photography for green/blue screening while Anne K was with us - my learners are currently writing their scripts for recording; then we have the magic of putting our movies together. (Around Noho Marae visits and all the other things we seem to do in the last term.) This is something that the learners had total control over what they did and has been an exciting project.

Kia ora - I'm Jo Fothergill and I currently teach Year 5 students at Raumati Beach School on the Kapiti Coast. Next year I'm involved in two adventures - collaborative classroom teaching with Anne Kenneally in Mosgiel, and setting up a learning hub of 3 classes with two colleagues at school where we will team teach a group of year 2-6 students. I'm loving working with google docs - and my kids are too.

When I go to ULearn, I will be focusing on: lots of things! Cool I always take the opportunity to catch up with my PLN - for me this is my big opportunity to touch base with many people and it's a time of affirmation and direction. I'll also be focusing on eFellowship opportunities - talking with other eFellows, encouraging others to apply for next year. I'll also be indulging in some personal professional development - I try to always schedule one or two workshops that are for me - of course there will be things in them that will spill over into school and classroom life - but I love learning new things and this is the opportunity for me to do so.

This looks awesome - a resource that is usable and helpful. Thanks for all the hard work. I suspect I'm going to be spending a bit of time over the holiday break checking it out!
