In our Twin Primes cluster we have encouraged teachers to find a suitable platform for connecting with their students to support, engage and extend students in the anywhere, anytime environment.  Some teachers and students find Moodle effective.  Some are using g-sites and class blogs, and some are using Facebook and Youtube successfully.  The feedback from students has been positive and it doesn't seem to matter which platform is used, as long as students feel that they can connect with their learning off-site.  They also find that the online environment is complimenting their classroom experience.
