Kia ora e hoa mā
I was in a kura last week talking about the new DT & HM content and talking about the opportunities for the learners and community. I shared the Hangarau Matihiko website and in particular the examples.

Interesting and valid points you make around valuing and resourcing of te reo Māori teaching and learning. The VLN Primary is a wonderful resource for schools.

I am fortunate to work alongside kura and schools and this post is pertinent to a lot of the discussions I am having. One project I am currently part of is designed to involve kura in Digital Fluency and build the possibilities for our tamariki with Hangarau Matihiko (Digital Technologies).
In our work with kura, we aim to identify a number of challenges and opportunities that can further enhance ākonga and kaiako use of digital learning technologies into the future. An example is to provide ongoing and tailored professional learning and development opportunities to assist kura to initiate, embed and sustain effective Māori-medium content, pedagogy and infrastructure. Perhaps this example is pertinent also to schools as well; the importance and access to sustainable support.
As we continue this project and from my other interactions I look forward to sharing the learning. Likewise, I look forward to following this discussion and hearing from others.

Following on from this discussion about Te Wiki o te Reo Māori resources, I thought I would share this blog Keepin’ it Reo on Twitter from Te Mihinga Komene. Te Mihinga shares how she uses #tereo and twitter. Her ideas can be easily used in the classroom and shared. Here are some:

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori /Māori Language Week takes place this year between Monday 27 July and Sunday 2 August.
The kaupapa for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2015 is ‘Whāngaihia te reo Māori ki ngā mātua.’ The aim is to encourage and support the language development of parents who can then whāngai the language to their children.
