Thanks for sharing Rebecca.  I agree about the ease of using dropbox to automatically transfer photos from your phone.  It's so easy I wish I'd done it sooner.

I like evernote, it's my top app so far and dropbox a close second.  Google mail/calendar/docs third (although I haven't used docs much yet).  Blogspot we used to use, but we've moved to an LMS now so don't use that any more or wikispaces as they are already built into our LMS.  I also use delicious bookmarks.  I wish that staff could see the value of this last one though.

I like the online and desktop functionalities of the first two apps because they make life more convenient and efficient.  It makes it easier to share with your colleagues too.

Hiya.  Just curious about what web 2.0 tools you use and how your staff and students find using such a variety when they all need passwords and use different interfaces.  For example do you use drop box AND google docs AND an lms AND mathletics AND sumdog AND studyladder etc.

How have you made your decisions about what to introduce and when?

I am using quite a few at the moment and realise one tool does not do it all.  I add another one when I have a need.  But when you have different interfaces, multiple passwords for staff and students, it gets a bit much for those that are not so tech-savvy.

Do people use dropbox and google docs?  Do you need both do you think?  Would you mind sharing your experiences with me? :-)

I have a year 0/1 class.  I use our iPads for lots of things as people have mentioned- reading and maths rotations.  But I use it as my 'stereo' and a techie monitor learns how to navigate the music part for us.

I also use it for my exercise to music-fitness activities.

Students use it for a listening post.  I upload the ready-to-read cds to it and the kids take the books and read along side the audio.

I'm just starting to create a book shelf of ebooks of the kids' work (or they will) so they can read their own creations.  I'm using the Book Creator app.  It allows you to add drawings or photos from the camera roll, and you can add audio.

Matthew- can you download the updates for apps synched with another iTunes account though?  Or is it just those on your account?

How have schools gone about convincing BOTs to allow students' personal mobile devices to come to school?  That seems to be a hurdle for us at the moment.

Good stuff.  I'm not in charge of that part so I guess the guy that does it has worked it out perhaps!  Smile What do you all personally use in your teaching and assessment? Any devices?  I would love to have something that could not just help learning but also our teacher prep and efficiency.

There are a lot of rubbish apps, I agree.  But you don't know that unless you have a play.  That's basically what I did for the first month.  But teachers need the freedom to explore and trial apps.  Teachers use different tools in different ways, so they need to use these in the same way.

I don't think you can upload from one iPad to iTunes then onto other iPads.  We've tried it and it doesn't seem to work.  You can delete apps from an individual ipads, but to delete it off all the iPads you need to resynch them from the iTunes on your lead teacher's pc.

Oh that's great!  There needs to be elements of discovery with new items before settling on how people are going to use them.  I don't think one way is the right way, there should be different opportunities for use.

If you've got an LMS running or blogs its important to think about how you view sites on these too.
