iPods / audio books help improve reading scores

I supply a lot of recorded stories for struggling readers which I acquire variously, sometimes converting tapes and spending my own money among other options. I am always conscious of copyright and am unsure of the legalities. Obviously once you have one copy you potentially have lots. I got the impression from the article that having made one purchase, copies were made.  Does anyone know what the legal position is?
