Automatic Downloads - Sync for Apps

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4539

Thought I would add this here as well in case you miss it in the forum

The latest version of iTunes has a tick box for Automatic Downloads.

"iTunes 10.3 3 and iOS 4.3.3 or later enable you to automatically download purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, or iTunes Store instantly to your other computers and devices."

What this means is you can download an App on your 'host' machine and it will appear on the other devices that have the Apps synced - and is signed in to the iTunes store with the same account.  NOTE: you need to have automaic downloads turned on - on the iPads as well and it will only work with apps that are down loaded after it is turned on on all machines.

Officially this is only supposed to work in the US at the mo???  But does work - I use it at home and have a school using it.  Is a treat for adding the odd app after the original sync.

(Note - you can also update other apps via the store on your iPad eg download on your host machine then on the iPad go into the App Store and you can download the new app manually via the Purchased Apps section. (no cables....yay...)

Thanks Dave. I saw that in the preferences and thought that it had always been there and it was just that I didn't notice it there before.

I can also attest to how useful it is.

    Cheers
