Kia ora tātou
The term is nearly over, with a short week coming up. Someone remarked that it felt like week 35 this week! There are lots of unknowns looking at what events and performances would normally occur in Term 2 and it is really difficult to plan.
Today a small paid opportunity came up to review resources on TKI. As the Ministry of Education continues to implement the educational changes, updates the curriculum, NCEA and online resources, there will be an increasing number of short-term, small (and some bigger) contracts that will be advertised. These are great opportunities to use your expertise to support other teachers outside of your immediate community. They are also a chance for people to expand and diversify their employment options. I’d encourage you to update your C.V now, and apply for positions that come up that you think you’d be suitable for. I became the Musicnet facilitator with only a few years of secondary music teaching experience, and it opened up a wide number of other opportunities. When I applied, I didn’t think I had enough experience someone in this role would need.
