Visarts summary to the 16th September 2018

Kia ora Visarters

Firstly I need to acknowledge the sad news from last week about Hunia Dean. This news rippled across many sectors of our community through those connected to Hunia and his wife Kezia in the various social media messages and background communications to this forum. It has again reminded me of what a tight-knit, caring village the Visual Arts community is in Aotearoa for those who have built up friendships through successive positions, associations and ANZAAE conferences and I would hope that long may this continue...

There has been a lot of traffic online related to a few key threads over the past couple of weeks including the place/purpose of Visual Arts .5 NCEA standards, Online type converters and programs, the current trend for learning areas across the curriculum to ‘cash-in’ on the term ‘creative’ and whether this reflects practices in these areas or is a misnomer.
