We’re getting through Term 3, and I’ve already had discussions with teachers about plans and budgets for 2019! This week a few new members have joined the Musicnet list. I’d like to welcome you, and encourage you to join in on the conversation. I’m also pleased to see replies recently from members who have posted for the first time in a while, after being long time members.

General (for all Music Levels)

Andres is a Colombian musician and educator who is looking to connect with a school for six months.

Faculty Rocks entries are now open. This is a competition for staff only, no students allowed. The competition is held on the 30th of November in AKL.

A gramophone restorer is sought.

Drama NZ’s EJournal is seeking submissions for articles from the Performing Arts.

Derek began a thread asking about the pros and cons of using a Concert Band as a vehicle for classroom music teaching. Do you have experience in this style of teaching?

SOUNZ have a very short survey about what resources they should create next.

Auditions for Jazz at the NZ School of Music now and in October.

Mike encouraged teachers to check that Secondary Subject advisers have up to date information on Tertiary programs. A number have updated their programs.

Rion is looking for Sond3 Resources

Reader/writers in NCEA External exams.

NCEA Moderation, Marking and songwriting workshop with Mike Chunn 25th Sept in CHCH.

Steelpan Workshop for students ages 6 upwards, 22nd Sept in AKL.

Auckland Youth Orchestra concerts 8th & 9th Sept in AKL.


Piano Scholarship for AKL and Waikato residents aged 17-21

NZ Secondary Schools Symphony Orchestra for 2019 applications are now open.

NZ Secondary Students choir also has applications for 2019.



The Auckland City Brass Band is looking for new members.
