Welcome to your weekly summary. A reminder to register for the Music workshops that begin tomorrow, starting in Invercargill and continue all around the country.


Just to highlight a response to Tim Carson, (MENZA Chairperson)’s  interview on National Radio was written here in the Dominion Post. Well worth a read and possible dispersal to those in management in your school..


Summary as to 13 March 2016

General (for all Music Levels)

·         Articles are sought for the upcoming ‘Tune Me In” MENZA magazine.

·         Alexander is looking for a full score of ‘Tico Tico’

·         Joanna is looking for chords of ‘Ingoma’ by The Ithemba group.

·         Itinerant lessons - how to charge for them and make the most of them.

·         Hook-line-and-sing-a-long entries close at midnight 14 March.

·         ANZAC song resources.

·         ITM appraisal

·         Maori Instruments and teaching resources were shared for Primary and Secondary.



·         Using The Beatles to teach songwriting.

·         Music technology domains and gathering data on them from your school.

·         Ukulele solos for Level 1 NCEA.


Professional Development/Concerts

·         NZSO open rehearsals in Wellington and Porirua.

·         NEWSATS Voice Teachers’ Conference 14-16th July in New Plymouth.

·         NCEA L1-3 Song writing workshop in AKL. 7 & 8 June.
