e-Learning Round-Up | 23 September 2015

Tēnā koutou, talofa lava, malo e lelei and welcome to the latest round up in the last week of Term 3. In this edition, we bring you the latest updates just in time for the holidays.

Here’s something a little bit special for this month.

The Lie of the Land in 2015: In this three part blog series, MrsB30 opens up and shares a bit about herself, her teaching and leadership roles and provides an insight into her role as an e-learning coach and mentor in her school. Up-coming blog posts in Term 4 will unpack MrB30’s 'leadership as inquiry' journey. Come join Sarah, asks some questions or just follow her story to see what happens.

Thank you to everyone who got involved in our online events this term. There’s more planned for Term 4, that will no doubt touch on interests and possibly concerns of your own, so see you there.

Have a relaxing break everyone. Tess  smiley (on behalf of the Enabling e-Learning online team).

In this edition, we’d like to acknowledge Mia for starting a lively debate around parent views vs educational understandings around modern learning practices in, Help!!- Research against MLEs- the most scathing please! Mia describes herself as, "...a teacher/team leader/ GATE coordinator/ ICT lead teacher at Palmerston North Intermediate Normal School. I have an interest in all things current best practice, with a particular interest in MLP and E-Learning." Why drop Mia a line and debate these issues further?

Sustainable Strategies: Integrating e-learning, leadership inquiry and classroom practice | Kōrero 14 2015: This exciting new NAPP thread invites all school leaders, e-leaders to engage in conversations about leadership as inquiry. What are your driving goals for 2015, who do you want to target, how have you initiated change, what has been the result of your actions so far. Why not come and join in and share your progress so far?

MLP or just Effective Pedagogy: TK Tony adds a passionate plea to this lively debate, that it is “…ABSOLUTELY about effective pedagogy, and how this can be supercharged on steroids through a strong collaborative teaching approach, in a purposefully designed (which I prefer to flexible) environment.” Why not join in and tell us what do you think.

Help!!- Research against MLEs- the most scathing please! Here's another lively and active debate, where community members get to weigh into an argument about the benefits afforded by flexible learning spaces and modern learning pedagogies.

Modern learning environment at Russell Street School
In this Edtalks, Nic Mason shares the experience of exploring a modern learning environment at Russell Street School in Palmerston North, with four teachers, four classrooms and 120 students. Nic believes that it benefits both the teachers and the learners, and allows teachers to cater for the students' learning better now that there are more people involved in their learning.
