Kia ora tātou,

Welcome to the first day of your holidays! What a huge term with Big Sing, Chamber Music, Smokefree Rockquest, Rockshop Bandquest, NZ Music Month, many Jazz Festivals along with all of your locally based concerts.

Thank you for all of your contributions to the Musicnet list. I have particularly enjoyed hearing some new voices posting comments. To quote Nick Brown, the outgoing Dramanet moderator of 5 ½  years  “Do take two or three minutes a week to write at least one email to your colleagues - either in response to an email thread, or as a question, or maybe sharing a perspective. It is often the shortest, subtlest comment that cuts to the quick of an argument.”

This week on Musicnet

·         Level 3 Group performance was discussed in depth this week. Thanks to all those that contributed.

·         Do you have students who want to freestyle rap or slice beats/samples of Verdi, Carl Orff, Bartok or Mahler? Look at the APO Remix the Orchestra contest that is on 15th July. This year they are partnering with DB Breweries to promote responsible drinking amongst youth.

·         NZSM is offering $10 tickets to their double bill of Purcell and Ravel. 13-16th August.

·         NZ Secondary Students’ Choir is performing in Hamilton on the 11th July.

·         Music Futures have an afternoon concert in Wellington on the 26th July.

·         Request for help with moderation/marking for Side Drum and general marking.

·         Position available in the lovely far north. Bay of Islands College - Music and English for 2 years.

·         Yvette is looking for a 7 or 7.5 version of Sibelius to buy.

·         As used by Jimmy Fallon with Jimmy Page and Billy Joel, the LOOPY app is great! Thanks to Andrew for highlighting it. I have added to our list of reviewed resources on Arts Online. Any takers for his competition challenge?

Finally, the National Orchestra of Samoa sent through their thanks to those who donated rosin. A great way to support music on our doorstep.
